6th Place Finish in 1st Ever Falloween 150 Major Success For APR!

In a star studded field of the BEST, and I mean BEST super late model drivers in the state, we showed our low budget team could hang with those guys! The Dells was packed with fans coming to see the star studded field! We got the car handling really well on the new tire they had us race on this weekend, and the car responded very very well! After a few minor setup changes, we found ourselves 5th fastest out the the 39 entries! There were a ton of great cars, and when qualifying was done, we found ourselves locked into the big show on time, as we needed to qualify into the top 14 fastest cars to be guaranteed a spot in the main show. We qualified 10th!

This allowed me to start in 3rd for the "Fast Dash." We worked our way up to 2nd, and got to race for the lead with multi-time track champion and veteran Jeff Storm. We battled to the end, but when the checkers flew, we finished tight on his back bumper in the 2nd position!

Next up was the feature. The invert from qualifying was 10, so we got to start on the pole! Starting outside me was Ty Majeski, the 2-time and defending ARCA Midwest Tour Series Champion. We raced down into turn one, and it was us taking the lead early and running away! It was so much fun to lead that field of cars with such a huge talented line up! Was definitely a confidence booster knowing I can definitely race with these guys! We lead the 150 lap race until lap 27, where Ty was pressuring us hard, and knowing it was a long race we let him go on the outside, in an effort to save the tires and equipment for the later stages of the race. We followed Ty and ran in the 2nd position all the way until the half-way break of the race at lap 75. We were allowed a 10 minute break before the final 75 laps to put fuel in the car and make some adjustments. I was so excited at the half-way point, we had a really good car, and by far my best race of the season!

We restarted the race 2nd, and lost one position on the restart to another veteran Andrew Morresy, who is also a champion of the Midwest Tour. Like I said, there was a ton of great cars! We followed him and ran 3rd until lap 95 when I got hit by a car from behind me and slipped back to 4th. We ran 4th until lap 118, where my car was starting to get very tight, and I could not get it to rotate in the center of the corner. The adjustment we had made at the half way point seemed to be hurting us as the car faded late into the long green flag run. With that though, we were able to run in the Top 5 Until 25 laps to go, where Uncle Dennis caught up to me and got by me while I was trying to work my way through lapped traffic. Dennis would end up going on to finish 5th, and I would finish right behind him in the 6th position!

We all had so much fun, and we left the track with nothing but excitement for what is to come next year!! It really was a great way to end the season, and it gives me a lot of confidence going into what will be my 2nd season in a Super Late Model!
